The puʻuwai (Hawaiian for heart) of Kulana Graffix is Evans Elaban. A self taught artist and graphic designer, Evans grew up in Kona on the Island of Hawai'i. His passion for illustrating and portraiture took a new turn when he was introduced to Photoshop in 1998. Instantly recognizing the power of the software, he relentlessly explored and became proficient so that he could take his own art to a new place. In a time before online tutorials he created using intuition and his talent for finding a good look. It wasn’t long before family, friends, and local businesses took notice of the work he was doing. This lead to his early work for local ministries and churches. He found himself designing logos, CD covers, brochures and posters starting his journey from artist to graphic designer.
In 2006 a local entertainment production company recognized his talent and hired him as their in-house graphic designer. Evans completely rebranded the company and today you can’t visit Kona without being exposed to his work through posters, brochures, signs, and web design.
With a passion to learn more, Evans never stopped freelancing. In fact, each year more clients sought him out for work and the result was the growth of Kulana Graffix.
“Aloha! I love the challenge of bringing your thoughts and ideas to life through art and graphic design. I am committed to give you my best so that you can feel proud and confident in your brand.” —Evans Elaban
